Beautifully aromatic, with a beguiling spiced plum, new leather and mint chocolate bouquet. The lush, velvety palate is utterly gorgeous: silky-smooth tannins and lavish flavours of blackberry jam and toffee-covered raisin.
The Vineyard
rench vigneron-wine consultant Charles Serres left Bordeaux for Spain in the nineteenth century to escape the ravages of villainous vine louse Phylloxera vastatrix, which was devastating the country. In Rioja's Haro he found the perfect place to make elegant, Bordeaux-style wines; and Bodegas Carlos Serres was born in 1896.

Charles' role as winegrower-exporter makes him one of the key personalities in Rioja’s vinous history. By the early 20th century his wines were being sold in Spain, France, England, Cuba and America.

Crianza
is a general Spanish wine term relating to the upbringing or maturation of a wine prior to its sale. But it also has a locally-defined meaning in each region: in Rioja, for example, a Crianza must by law spend one a minimum of one year in wood plus a year in bottle. Crianza is arguably the most 'typical' style of Rioja.
