Fleurie Domaine de Marrans P Ferraud 2007
Exotic and silky with supple tannins, with spicy ‘fruit of the forest’ flavours.
Food Match: An excellent accompaniment to pork, grills and some fish dishes (those without sauces). Best served cool, say 12-13°.
Négociants as well as growers, the Ferraud family, retired father and two sons, own many of the Estates whose wines they market including of course their Domaine wines available only through their own company. Their philosophy is firmly entrenched in traditional wine-making practices with an eye to current and future market trends for Beaujolais in general and cru Beaujolais in particular.
The quality of all their wines is high and reflects each terroir very well. They are well regarded for the white wines of the Mâconnais area, particularly those of Château de Fuissé marketed by Ferraud though owned by cousins.
Soil: Alluvial sandy granite.
Vinification: Grapes hand harvested. Part traditional vinification and part semi-carbonic maceration.
Maturation: In oak casks and in bottle.
