Sales Information

The powerful primary fruit of this wine is beginning to evolve with age, making this an accessible young LBV, ready to drink now, but capable of ageing and developing still for some years. Deep redblack in colour, it is powerful and perfumed, with aromas of plums and dark cherry with a touch of tobacco on the nose. On the palate, it is rich and ripe, with great structure and a long, spicy finish. This wine is unfiltered and will continue to develop in the bottle. As a result, it may throw a light deposit and need decanting.

The Vineyard

Quinta da Romaneira was bought in 2004 by Christian Seely, who isknown for his extensive experience in running the renowned Quinta do Noval. Since arriving in the Douro in the 1990s, it has been hisdream to own Quinta da Romaneira and restore the property to its former glory. The estate is situated in the Cima Corgo district, in the heart of the Douro Valley. The superb location, along 2km of the Douro River, provides ideal conditions for the production of high quality wines.

VINEYARDS

81 hectare of vineyard have been replanted with the principal aim of producing dry wines, and a small range of ports. The vineyards are planted mainly with classic Douro varieties, and all 76 Ha of red grapes are planted on “A” grade Douro schist terraces. Yields are typically very low, ranging from 20 – 25 hl/ha. lagars, with temperature control at 28ºC. The port was then aged for five years in old wooden vats before bottling unfiltered. Bottling must take place between the 1st July of the 4th year and the 31st December of the 6th year following the vintage. Quinta da Romaneira LBV Unfiltered was bottled in 2009.
