Côtes de Bourg is an AOC for Bordeaux wine situated around the small town of Bourg-sur-Gironde near Bordeaux, France. The soils types of the Cotes de Bourg are a mixture of clay, sand and gravel in varying proportions, which is to be expected given Bourg’s location near the confluence of the Dordogne and Garonne rivers.
Merlot dominates the vineyards here. In the cooler, moist clay-rich soils of Bourg it grows very well. Cabernet Sauvignon is grown more in the gravel and sand-dominant areas
