The Last Stand Shiraz
Bright and lifted Shiraz with aromas of summer fruit pudding, mulberry and black pepper. The palate offers notes of vanilla and chocolate, combining elegance and length on the finish.
The fine-grained tannin and vanilla flavour from the oak (20% barrel aged) work in balance to deliver a delicious red. This Shiraz is concentrated but not overblown, marked out by its dark fruit character, underlying spiciness and the faintest hint of mint. This is not just another varietal Aussie red. This is a distinctive regional classic.
Drink with lamb chops and mint or ratatouille.
This Shiraz is sourced from McLaren Vale, from the cooler Seaview and Kangarilla districts under the Southern Mount Lofty Ranges which are noted for producing some of Australia's finest Shiraz.
The Last Stand - "Acknowledging their debt to returning soldiers in World War I, the individual States within Australia implemented soldier settlement schemes, rewarding soldiers with gifts of land, marking the end of their military service".
