Tasting Notes

From Garnacha vines of an average age of 35-50 years old, located in the harsh continental climate landscape of Lécera, Bajo Aragón is Tempore’s Esenzia. An organic old-vine Garnacha which is bottled young for preservation of concentrated flavour, after fermentation in stainless steel it undergoes a 14 day maceration which contributes to its intensity and depth.

This is a wine full of sensations and youth, a bright maraschino-red colour with purple edges, the bouquet is intense and reminiscent of red berry fruit. On the palate, red fruit flavours are accompanied by a hint of dried fig, licorice and mint, with great warmth and balance on the finish.

Producer

The Yago Aznar family belong to this region of Lécera in Aragón, attuned to the extreme climate and tough landscape with a shared passion for wine-making spanning four generations of viticulturists. Today the 70 hectare estate is run by siblings Paula and Víctor Yago Aznar and their organically certified operation is predicated on the principle of 'Tempore' or time, or more precisely 'seedtime', leaving the vines to express themselves free of intervention and with the utmost respect for the land.

Here they cultivate exclusively autochthonous varieties of the region, Garnacha, Tempranillo, Macabeo and white Garnacha grapes, with 70+ year old traditional Garnacha bush vines coexisting with younger fully trellised vineyards. The entire estate is organic with a new state of the art winery built in 2002.
