Sales Information

Ripe cherry colour with intense aromas of red fruit, combined with vanilla and roasted coffee as a result of being aged in French oak casks. In the mouth it is powerful with great balance, mild tannins and a spicy finish.

Pair with cheese ravioli and other pasta dishes with meat sauces, rice dishes, cured Manchego and Roquefort cheeses.

The wine was aged for nine months in 90% French and 10% American oak, followed by four months in bottle before release to market. The blend consists of 30% Tempranillo, 50% Merlot and 20% Syrah.

The 2010 harvest started with a volatile winter followed by a cool spring and a mild start to the summer, which then transitioned to a very hot and dry period through the end of August. The autumn was mild and crisp with clear blue skies which allowed for an ideal harvest of the grapes, lasting through September.

The Vineyard

The aim of Bodegas Pago de Cirsus is to make 100 percent single-estate wines of the very highest quality. The estate, located just outside the village of Ablitas in Navarra, runs along a canal at an altitude of 220 metres and enjoys a continental climate with high summer temperatures reaching between 30-40 ºC.

The 135 hectares of southerly vineyards are planted with Tempranillo, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and small grain Muscat. The average yield per hectare is intentionally reduced to approximately 4,000-4,500 kilos, which is much lower than what is regulated by the region’s control board. The result is excellent quality grapes with good colour that produce elegant wines with good body and a powerful structure.
