Jura

The Jura wine region, nestled in the eastern part of France near the Swiss border, is a hidden gem known for its distinctive and eclectic wines. The region's cool climate and Jurassic limestone soils contribute to the production of unique varietals such as Savagnin, Poulsard, and Trousseau. Jura is particularly renowned for its oxidative winemaking style, notably seen in the production of Vin Jaune, a type of yellow wine aged in oak barrels under a film of yeast. Complementing this, the region also produces delicate and refreshing Crémant du Jura sparkling wines. With its small-scale, artisanal winemaking practices and a focus on indigenous grape varieties, Jura has gained recognition among wine enthusiasts for its singular terroir-driven expressions that reflect the region's rich winemaking history.
